Opposite Directions is the acoustic rock duo from Ocean City, MD with Darin Engh on vocals, acoustic guitar, bass, keyboard and harmonica and Bob Wilkinson on vocals, acoustic guitar, bass and harmonica. Opposite Directions was formed in 1986 and since then they have played up and down the East coast from Maine to Florida and as far out West as Colorado and Wyoming. While they mostly play in Ocean City, MD these days, they still manage to get out of town to other places in the Mid Atlantic every once in a while. Opposite Directions quickly developed a reputation for their tight harmonies and excellent guitar work. Voted the ‘Best Acoustic Rock Duo ‘ by Beachcomber Magazine, where ever they are playing is considered the place to be for great acoustic music. You will often hear songs by such artists as James Taylor, Jim Croce, CSNY, America, Jimmy Buffet and others as well as their own songs from their release ‘Seeds of Change’ but Opposite Directions also covers a wide range of musical styles from blue grass to modern rock to blues to reggae.

Join us out under the stars on the beach behind the Nature Center for a viewing of a G-rated family or nature-themed movie. Check our weekly program schedule for this week’s feature. Please bring a chair or blanket and your favorite snack and beverage. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
Program free to State Park campers; all others program service charge of $4 per vehicle; check-in at State Park Ranger Station office.
Listen to great music and watch the sunset over the Isle of Wight Bay from the perfect location in Ocean City! Event begins at 7:00 p.m. and runs to approximately 9:00 p.m. Admission to the park is free. Beverages, including beer, are available for purchase. It is recommended that attendees bring their own seating.

This is the weekend to decorate your campsite! Our judges will be lookin’ for the Best Decorated/Most Patriotic site. Winners will be announced after the Red, White & Blue Patriots Parade on Friday, July 4th and will receive a gift certificate to the Lazy River Saloon Restaurant.
The Red, White & Blue Patriots Parade will feature a Best Decorated Bike/Golf Cart Contest.
This weekend will also feature Red, White & Blue Tie-Dyeing. Please bring your own white t-shirt (wear old clothes, dye can be messy). There will also be an Ice Cream Eatin’ Contest and ‘Red, White & Blue’ Dance.
Independence Day Carnival @ Assateague Island State Park

Come celebrate with us at the Assateague State Park Nature Center for our annual summer carnival. Activities will include games, crafts, nature programs, raffles, as well as great food. Don’t miss the limbo, frozen t-shirt contests or the pie eating challenge! Proceeds from this fundraising event will benefit the Assateague State Park Nature Center and Interpretive Programs.
