Opposite Directions is the acoustic rock duo from Ocean City, MD with Darin Engh on vocals, acoustic guitar, bass, keyboard and harmonica and Bob Wilkinson on vocals, acoustic guitar, bass and harmonica. Opposite Directions was formed in 1986 and since then they have played up and down the East coast from Maine to Florida and as far out West as Colorado and Wyoming. While they mostly play in Ocean City, MD these days, they still manage to get out of town to other places in the Mid Atlantic every once in a while. Opposite Directions quickly developed a reputation for their tight harmonies and excellent guitar work. Voted the ‘Best Acoustic Rock Duo ‘ by Beachcomber Magazine, where ever they are playing is considered the place to be for great acoustic music. You will often hear songs by such artists as James Taylor, Jim Croce, CSNY, America, Jimmy Buffet and others as well as their own songs from their release ‘Seeds of Change’ but Opposite Directions also covers a wide range of musical styles from blue grass to modern rock to blues to reggae.
Nate Clendenen is a singer/songwriter/performer born in Philadelphia, PA and raised on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Imgaine Toots Hibbert and Peter Rowan in a smoky jam session. Think Ramblin’ Jack Elliot if he had grown up at the beach. Clendenen’s influences are widely eclectic from Reggae and world music to Appalachian folk – from 60s psychedelia to alternative country. Nate seeks to put words to the random moments in life that one will always remember to record his thoughts as a soundtrack of his life to find those tiny things that often go unnoticed. This is the stuff of great art the melody of meaningful music. Mike Breen of the Cincinatti Beach describes Clendenen as the ‘Van Morrison in the Appalachians… Newgrass colliding with the singer/songwriter genre.’
